Site Upgrade

It’s been a bit… I’ll admit, but at least the site looks a lot better.

So right off the bat I want to admit there has been a lot of distractions that have pulled me away from “Mixten Genetics.” I feel like I’ve been a bit scatterbrained since the summer started. I started full in on some projects at work, we had some visitors at my house in May, then as soon as June hit time just seemed to slip away. The little bit of free time I had in the evenings didn’t seem like enough. As soon as I got home and plopped my butt in a chair, I literally became unable to function. By the time I’d realize how long I’d been dinking around on my phone, it would be almost time for bed. I apologize for that. I set some goals for myself at the beginning of the year that I’m certain now I’m not going to meet.

That said, I’m not giving up. I have IncredibleCon in North Charleston, South Carolina next month and I’ll have an Artist Alley table where I’m going to promote the comic and sell some merch. After that, I really don’t have any other big commitments. I want to at least complete Chapter One of Mixten Genetics and then work on Chapter One of Couch Goblin in October, probably bleeding into November. Luckily Couch Goblin chapters are shorter.

The other thing that has pulled away from my main project is “Fourth Chimera”, but I’m actually glad to have that story going. I wanted to try something darker and, since it is just a written story instead of a comic, I can always fall back on updating that in times where I can’t bring myself to draw comic panels. Starting next year I’ll probably try to work out some alternating pattern between the three stories. Even though Mixten Genetics is the main story, both Couch Goblin and Fourth Chimera are important side stories. Some characters from one may show up in another and the events are definitely part of a bigger narrative.

The final thing I want to talk about is “Animal Testing.” It isn’t another storyline or anything. It’s meant to just be funny one off strips. Like “Fourth Chimera” it’s there to be something I can divert to when I need a break from some of the other story lines. Nothing in Animal Testing will be super plot relevant, at least as far as I’ve written, but if you like pets in fun situations, then it’ll be a nice diversion. I only need to get through Chapter One of Mixten Genetics before I can do the occasional Animal Testing strip. I need to introduce the main character… and luckily it’s almost time for that.
